Wentworth
– Your Path to an Army Commission
Wentworth is one of five military junior colleges (MJCs)
that provide unique opportunities to achieve a commission in the
U.S. Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard. Wentworth
Senior Army ROTC offers two and four-year programs for becoming
an Army Officer.
2-Year
Program
Our most sought after program is the
Early Commissioning Program (ECP).
ECP is a 2-year program
that allows college students to receive a U.S. Army commission
as a Second Lieutenant upon graduation from Wentworth.
The ECP is tailored for individuals who have completed one of these three requirements:
-
Three or more years
of Junior ROTC;
-
Leaders Training Course, a 4-wk paid leadership
program at Ft. Knox, KY;
-
Basic Training and/or AIT.
Upon graduation from Wentworth with an Associate’s Degree and a
commission, recipients must complete their bachelor’s degree at
a four year college of their choice, and may also serve with a
Guard or Reserve unit while completing their bachelor’s degree.
This program is competitive
and highly popular, not only because you can complete your
college degree with substantial Army scholarship benefits, but
you can also earn money serving as a Second Lieutenant while
completing your degree. Furthermore, based on current pay
tables, upon completion of your 4 year degree, if you choose to
pursue active duty, you will be earning over $9500
MORE per year than your contemporaries.
4-Year
Program
Our four-year program is known as the
2+2 Scholarship Program.
This is a unique, one-of-a-kind, four-year ROTC scholarship
broken into two separate parts. Recipients
attend their freshman and sophomore years at Wentworth,
where they will earn an
Associate of Arts Degree and complete the first two years of the
commissioning program. They will then transfer to a
college or university with an ROTC program to complete their 4
year degree and the final two years of their commissioning
program. Successful completion of the 2+2 Scholarship Program culminates
with a bachelor’s degree and a commission as a second lieutenant
in the United States Army.
