Wentworth believes
in educating the mind, body and spirit – in developing the whole
student. The campus’ small town setting helps to foster an
environment
free from the typical distractions confronting young people today. A
highly structured daily schedule reinforces the priority of academics
and self-development and, in fact, ultimately provides the student
greater freedom to excel
academically and otherwise.
In addition to the college preparatory curriculum, Wentworth provides an
array of sports, extra-curricular and developmental activities and
programs designed to broaden our students’ educational experience and
provide them the foundations for college success. Wentworth is among
only a few secondary schools in the Midwest to make community service a
graduation requirement.
All boarding students are required to take part in some form of
athletics or physical education and all participate in either Junior or
Senior ROTC. Students not participating in varsity sports enjoy numerous
intramural programs or activities such as SCUBA, paintball, martial
arts, journalism and arts & crafts. Frequent off-campus trips are
planned cultural, historic, sports and entertainment attractions
contribute to the student’s overall development.
Cadets are encouraged to attend the religious service of their
choice at local parishes and congregations. The school has an Honor Code
which is administered by the Corps of Cadets with faculty oversight.
Values such as integrity, personal accountability, teamwork and hard
work are taught and reinforced through both formal instruction and role
modeling.
